Practicing Mindfulness

Have you ever wondered why you are constantly stressed out or feel like you are trapped in a deep black hole? Have you been trying to get out of this cycle with little success? This is a sign for you to learn how to start practicing mindfulness.

What is mindfulness?
According to Alic, mindfulness is the innate human ability to be fully aware of the present moment without distractions, judgement, over-reaction, or feeling overwhelmed. Practising mindfulness can be beneficial not only for adults, but also for students. It can improve their mental well-being when coping with school tasks, which, as we all know, can be challenging.

Practicing mindfulness should be done daily without any major, special requirements to get started.

  1. Take a walk in nature

Physical activities are a must for mindfulness. While you do not need to go to the gym or do high intensity exercises, having a regular morning walk at your nearest park can help you boost your serotonin levels and relieve stress. This can help to make you finish your tasks full of motivation and excitement.

  1. Journaling

Having too many things on your mind can be overwhelming and cause anxiety. By journaling, you can pour out all your thoughts and plan out your daily goals. This can help you to take on one day at a time and keep yourself accountable. As a creative outlet, journaling acts as a place for any stray ideas one may have.

  1. Listen to music

Listening to a song is something that can be done while you are eating, showering, talking, or studying. It basically goes along with every activity that you can think of in your daily life. In a world full of stress and anxiety, music can play a vital role in helping people achieve mindfulness and cope with all the stresses they have from their work or social environment. Music can help to calm you psychologically and relieve your stress.

  1. Practice gratitude

Being conscious of the good things about yourself and appreciating them can help you become more confident in approaching daily tasks. Appreciate the things in your life while they are still with you, especially your loved ones or even belongings that you treasure, because life is a short journey, and you never know when the things around you will disappear.

  1. Drink enough water

Consuming enough water is vital for us to function. Neill has stated that people, especially teenagers, should drink at least 10-12 glasses of water a day to maintain one’s health, both physically and mentally. Doing so can lessen the likelihood of feeling fatigued, helping us become more energized and accomplished in our daily tasks without feeling burdened.

  1. Self-care

Who doesn’t love a good pamper? Do you know that focusing on yourself and taking care of your body can boost your mood and confidence? It does not have to be something fancy, making a DIY face mask to wear as you watch your comfort show can work too!

Mindfulness can help improve your wellbeing both physically and psychologically. In practicing it, you can work your way towards being happier, more focused and less stressed in your everyday life.
