Exercising while keeping COVID safe!

Amidst a global pandemic, many of us found it tough to strike a balance between relaxing and exercising due to the lockdown and constantly staying at home. However, we have found the perfect solution to keep fit while staying COVID safe! – video-calling our family and friends to work out together! That way we could motivate each other, while staying safe at home and still being able to bond through literal sweat and tears. Many of us find it a chore to get out of bed to exercise or as many would call it, ‘torture ourselves’ but there are many perks to home workouts and some of us even shared our individual experiences!

Video calling – brand new lifestyle 

In 2020, COVID took full control of our daily lives, we lost our freedom due to the quarantine. But! Video calling has been an absolute lifesaver! With video calling made accessible to everyone, we were able to meet our friends – virtually of course! No matter where we were, we always felt connected, that personally helped me get through lockdown as I did not feel lonely. Working out with others through video calls also helped many get their minds off the pandemic and relieve stress. For myself, during the quarantine I did daily exercises with my friends which really enriched my life. Even in 2021, we really can’t predict if the pandemic will end, so everyone, there is no harm in maintaining your personal fitness and setting new goals to ensure that your health is your priority, with video calling your friends and family, you can work out while staying COVID safe. In a thirty-minute exercise session you really can fit in a long routine so come on and join us in this daily workout challenge! Let’s do it and get through this pandemic together!

Home workouts – encouraging family members to break a sweat! 

Many people do body weight exercises while staying safe. Most exercises such as crunches, lunges, planks, pushups, squids, do not require equipment at home. There are also some exercises that require simple tools, for example, Triceps dips, which can be done with the help of a stool or by the bed. Wall sit, yes, you only need a wall! These actions often seem simple, but it can be a killer as it tests endurance. 

During the pandemic and isolation period, I personally did not give up exercising at home. Even though gyms were closed, I still did aerobics and cardio exercises every night with the help of online videos. Due to my persistence, my mother felt motivated and started to exercise with me every day. We bonded by working out together, cheering each other on whenever either of us wanted to give up. Additionally, there are a wide range of videos online that can suit everyone’s needs. I genuinely felt that this was a good way to promote the fitness and health living while staying COVID safe!

Still feeling unconvinced and prefer the gym? Here are some perks to why you should adapt to the new style of home workouts!

Firstly, you get to stay fit and healthy and doing daily workouts can help to increase productivity in your daily routine! Secondly, it is free of charge! Many Youtubers have released monthly or weekly challenges that you have easy access to and even challenge your family and friends to suffer with you! Next, you save time and money, who doesn’t want that? Lastly, most exercises are body weight exercises which means you do not have to invest in getting equipment! If these perks don’t get you excited and motivated to try a home workout, especially when gyms are closed due to COVID, you really are missing out!
